About Afghangstah

It's not easy being an Afghangstah

Before I introduce myself, I know what you're thinking, "lol really, another basic girl with another basic blog?"

I don't blame you if that's what you think, of course. I would've thought the same but hopefully you'll think otherwise when you get to know me.

My name is Hadia. I was born in Atlanta to my Afghan parents yet I have never even been to Afghanistan. Now you're probably wondering why in the world I would call myself an Afghangstah.

Well, it's not easy, being born to parents who fought the Russians and fled the war, leaving their homeland behind because their children wouldn't have had a future, let alone a future, perhaps not even the chance to live. Anyways, I won't go into too much detail, I have to keep you guys interested and some mystery is always intriguing, isn't it?

Although I was born in Atlanta, Afghanistan has my heart and I lived in the Netherlands for four years... 9 months of those four years which I spent in refugee camps... and no, not as a volunteer or anything, as one of the refugees. There was a time where I only had two pairs of pants and one shirt. Unbelievable! Isn't it? I mean, it's unbelievable if you look at my closet (or Instagram) now... There were some truly tough times that definitely took a toll on the then ten year old little Afghangstah but those times blessed me with fluency in six languages and much much more.

As for what I hear makes me basic, I model here and there, work in makeup and help promote some local brands.

Now that I've got you speculating, I hope you'll be back to read up on my goals, ambitions and of course the stories as to how and why all these events took place. After all, as I said, it's not easy being an Afghangstah. See you soon!
