Tips to an easy breezy outfit

by - 9:29 PM

Hi there lovely people! Hope you're having an amazingggg day!

I got so much love on this outfit and the best part isn't even how it looks, it's how cool it felt in the crazy Atlanta heat! I haven't been a hijabi for too long but making it through the summer wasn't so easy; here are some tips and tricks on how I managed to keep cool and still layer my outfits! If you live in Atlanta or anywhere with high temperatures and humidity you'll know that you may run into hot weather even in December so these should help you out for a while...
  1. When layering always keep your options open. You're not confined to a tight hot undershirt or a cardigan. Those can get so hot and thick at times! Plus, sometimes those undershirts can end up looking tacky under a lot of stuff. As you can see here I paired up a really wide and flow-y shirt underneath. Ahhh sweet ventilation!
  2. RIPPED JEANS! Wear them! If you're concerned about the modest aspect, here's what I do, I cut off a piece of fabric that matches my outfit and slide it into the holes if they're skinny jeans and will sit in tight, if not, FABRIC GLUE! Just clue a patch onto the back of the hole and voila.
  3. Lightweight hijabs are essential and so are turbans. I've been wearing my "signature style turban" but for this look I had an ultra light weight hijab that I picked up at TJ Maxx! Always stay on the lookout.

OUTFIT SPECIFICS

  • The top is a dress in a size M, I'm actually an S but that was the only size they had left so for $2 I HAD to work with it.
  • I cut of a chunk of the dress in the front since there was so much fabric and tucked it into the holes of my pants for coverage.
  • Hollister's skinny high waisted pants allowed me to just tuck that hole right in and drape the dress as I pleased.
  • Last but not least the entire outfit cost less than $60 (if you don't count the watch)

I hope that was a tad bit helpful!

Shoutout to @a.squared.photography for her amazing talents!

Enjoy the rest of your week :)
